Vitamin C helps with iron absorption by binding with the iron in the digestive process making the iron easier to absorb. In case of low levels of vitamin c, it has been added into this formula to optimise iron absorption. The addition of vitamin C also helps to counteract the effects of some dietary components with may interfere with iron absorption such as tannins (in tea, coffee, chocolate), calcium, phosphate and phytates (in nuts and grains).
The lower amount of iron in this formula makes it suitable for those who don't require as much iron. Each chewable tablet contains taste-free iron with xylitol and natural flavours and is great for those who have trouble swallowing tablets or capsules.
