Propolis is made naturally by bees from resins. Bees make it as a powerful natural defense for the hive against infections. New Zealand propolis has the unique feature that it is particularly high in bioactives due to specific factors of the environment.
Two bioactives which research has shown to the most potent are: caffeates (esp. CAPE - caffeic acid phenethyl esters) and flavonoids.
